THE PURPOSE of the Yesod Foundation’s Reb Zalman Legacy Project is to promote a greater awareness of the teachings of Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi (b.1924), better known as “Reb Zalman,” one of the most influential spiritual leaders of our time. A Holocaust survivor, early associated with Habad-Lubavitch Hasidism, Schachter-Shalomi went on to teach Jewish Mysticism

and Psychology of Religion at various universities, and to found the influential Jewish Renewal and Spiritual Eldering movements. Today he is considered one of the world’s leading authorities on Jewish spirituality, Hasidism and Kabbalah and a pioneer of inter-spiritual dialogue, known for his profound engagement and dialogue with leaders of many different spiritual traditions.
